Music may be one of God's gifts to go beyond our 5 physical senses.

This morning I can feel my thankful heart even deeper than usual, without the disciplined effort I am focused on developing. What is it? Well, this morning I get to participate on the worship team at Westtown Church. This single experience excites me like few other things do these days. My thankfulness, however, can go much deeper than just the opportunity for this, because if I am honest, there are many "steps in the path" that got me here in the first place. My trail starts with an interest in learning how to play guitar when I was 12 years old, continues through a Mom who supported me by paying for weekly lessons for a while, through access to new instruments through high school and college, includes friends in my life with whom I played in bands, and on and on.
I imagine that many others have experienced how music can transcend the 5 senses. For me, this experience tends to be at the core of my continuous praise of God and His Son, Jesus. Worship music has become central to my continuous focus on the glory of God and thus, my process of sanctification. I believe that music may be one of the small ways that God has given us to connect with the spiritual world, beyond the bombardment of our senses with the physical world.
